3 Minute Expert Review

For all you Ray Higdon lovers, here’s a review of his latest program the “3 Minute Expert”.  Which would you like first, the good news or the bad news ?

Your Course with Lesly

First I have to let you know I am NOT an affiliate. So you can anticipate an honest review of this program – I would give you one regardless.

I’ll do the “bad” news first, get that out of the way…

Alright. So the “3 Minute Expert” consists of 27 informative videos which are presented in a somewhat sloppy manner. If you can get past the visual presentation and zoom in on the content, it’s good.

One video in particular drove me nuts because you could not read the content and how boring to view a list of something in video format. Mr. Higdon had another person narrating the list of plugins used on Ray’s website. Now it would’ve been better, since this information is being shared, to have a PDF of the plugin list to print out. Yeah, I know, I could have enlarged the video, but I, like many others, like to have a print-out in hand to refer to.

I also kept looking for the “hook” : “3 Minute Expert”. NONE of Mr. Higdon’s suggestions take 3 minutes, hardly. And listen carefully as Ray admits to how long it actually took to get where he is today. So if you’re thinking this program is going to churn out thousands of dollars for you instantly, forget it.

So this is a marketing “hook” just like when Rachel Ray created “30 Minute Meals” back in the late 1990’s it was a hook she was able to prove and she’s worth millions now. The “3 Minute Expert” hook, in my opinion disappoints.

But, it’s a very good example of a “marketing hook” which captures attention of potential customers. So, you can learn lots from this to use in your own business. By the way, an EXCELLENT book to read which talks all about marketing hooks is  Brandscaping: Unleashing the Power of Partnerships  by Andrew M. Davis.

Now for the Good News, ready?

If Ray realty wanted to be known for the amount of value his “3 Minute Expert” program offers, he need not worry. In fact it’s one of the very first topics he discusses in his welcoming video – being generous with value and over delivering.

Aside from the 27 educational videos, he includes an informative “Video Marketing Mastery” program, and 9 audios on his popular “ILT ( Invest, Learn, Teach) philosophy – not to mention the 14 Bonuses in video format presenting topics on image design, blog reviews to creating ADs and a few other useful, informative videos.

He has some great tidbits to share. Loved his video on “monetizing your blog” – ideas which I’ve already implemented.

If you’re NEW to blogging, Ray shares how to set one up, suggested plugins, setting up Google Analytics and webmaster tools, blog layout and design …

Another tidbit I learned was how to clear your Facebook Cache, never knew you could do that! If you’ve been experiencing crazy, Facebook image problems, knowing this will solve it.

Ray shows you behind the scenes of how he promotes his blog content. You’d think he’d be using some automated process and thankfully, I was pleasantly surprised he does his own, manual syndication – alright, Ray!

So, overall, it’s a very good informative program. I suppose after you digest all the information ( too much to cover in a day so spread it out) and implement his suggestions, you could very well achieve being an “Expert in 3 minutes” – over time. And, I think the $297.00 course fee is justified for the amount of material you get to peruse through.

But the knowledge Ray shares has come through years of personal experiences. He’s earned where he is today – public popularity and financially secure. And it’s kinda cool to peer into what Ray does with his blog … right? And, how a 6+ figure earner morphed himself to be an authority in the Home Business and Network Marketing niche.

Now, I just have to say this – investing in your own education is an absolute must. You’ll learn how to think differently, learn new ways to promote yourself, get ideas, and generate new opportunities. You can’t help but present yourself differently when you elevate your knowledge. If you want to excel in your business, invest in your ongoing, never ending education.

So Ray, if you’re reading this, congratulations on creating a very helpful, informative, and educational program, many will benefit from it.

There, you have it Higdon lovers …

  1. Hi David,
Thank you for visiting and taking the time to leave a comment … honestly I am not that focused on keyword research because it just not as important as it once was. Yes, using terms, words to find what you’re looking for will always be significant. However what is outweighs this is useful content and engagement on a website. This is what I focus on … thanks again for the visit 🙂

  2. Hey Lesley,

Perhaps you can answer this question for me. Ray says in the course to use keywords with about 200 searches per month, which using Google keyword tool can be very unreliable. Anyway back to my point. When I enter a keyword with about 200 searches per month in semrush it says keyword difficulty to rank is 83.6 where as a keyword with 22,200 searches has a keyword difficulty of only 54.31

  3. Hi Miriam…
Well, it all comes down to individual choice, right? People will spend their money on what they want depending on their interests. Actually, the trie kickers are still around even if they purchase a high priced internet program… I understand your perspective … always great to see you , thanks…

  4. I know he is a great marketer but a lot of people cannot afford such a price. I know that these expert marketers set their prices high just to weed out tire kickers but I have to be honest, there is nothing that motivates me to want to buy his course. Even if the price was lower, there is nothing exceptional he put out. But reviews like yours are quite helpful and may help others decide otherwise.

  5. Hi Joy,
I totally understand… it’s a marketing tool to suck you in. I didn’t get anything programs for a long, long time.. very picky and cautious, if I get anything I usually have followed them for a while.. wish he named it something else then the “3 Minute Expert”.. takes longer than that … wonderful to see you visiting , thanks…

    Hi Lesly,

I’ve never bought any of Ray Higdon’s material, so I can’t comment on the quality – although I have heard he’s excellent.

Have to confess – I’m not keen on that type of marketing – probably because, in the past, like a clown, I fell for the 3-minute hype more than once and for monthes I was beating myself up I felt I must be the only one who WASN’T being successful in 3 minutes!

  7. Hey William,
Wonderful to see you stopping by … I think Ray’s teachings are good! He’s sharing what he’s learned and he’s worked hard at it. I agree you have to have a following, and affiliates.. this particular program has been very successful ….

  8. Hi Sue,
Wonderful to see you visiting … yes, it can be overwhelming, that’s why self branding is so important and building your own audience. In spite of the competition, there is an audience for everyone… thank you for the complement … 🙂

  9. Hi Lesley.

Ray Higdon is cool.. I went to see him last year when he was in the UK… In London which is still about 3 hours to get to but I learned a lot.. I find hiss style is very different to the likes of Eric Worre. You need to find what style suits you best and then.. you can type their name into YouTube and watch a ton of training’s. High priced items can work.but you need to have a following of people who will buy the products..otherwise it could be much harder.

  10. Sue Bride says:

I’d normally avoid paying for high priced items such as this because I can’t find honest reviews. So it’s so refreshing to read yours.

One thing that concerns me about those who teach how they became successful years ago is that times have changed and it’s not so easy now in a saturated market. There are so many more products and programs and so many more people promoting them.

  11. Hi Chery,
Wonderful to see you visiting, thank you .. so you know first hand the quality of Ray’s work. He certainly believes the best lead comes from blog .. which I think is awesome… have a great holiday weekend! 🙂

  12. Hey Lesly, I actually learned how to blog from Mr Ray Higdon himself, I purchased his blogging course a few years ago, perhaps I should go back and see if he has added any upgrades LOL

Great review by the way my friend. Thanks and do have an awesome holiday weekend ahead,.. Chery :))

  13. Hi Lawrence,
Wonderful to see you visiting … yes, I think you have to do a mix of the bad/good and I’m not an affiliate so, most affiliates will usually say nothing bad .. but I’ll always be honest with what I think of a product. I also like to end on a good note. Prices vary so it just depends on the individual, what they’re looking for, and what they’re willing to spend…

  14. dexterroona says:

In the movie Theres something about Mary there is a scene where a character explains his new money making scheme 7 minute abs, Ben stiller, says yes Thats a winner…… Until someone comes up with 6 min abs…… Would you like to promote my 2 minute expert program 🙂

  15. Thanks for the review Lesly, I feel at this time the entry price for me is too high but I have in the past paid as much just to get into building a site, and making it ready for e commerce.
Also the way you listed out the bad before the good helped digest the review. I prefer to end on a good note. It allows you to go back and review any cons after feeling good about getting all the details in.

  16. Hi Elissa,
Wonderful to see you here visiting, thank you! Well, marketing is misleading – you can see that on TV everyday … I wish he had called it something else that was more believable and doable. Everything is doable, anything is doable if you implement it … yea, there are some good tidbits .. but it has to speak to the person on an individual basis. I just like learning what other successful people are doing because it helps me get better at what I’m trying to do … as far as the Facebook – clearing it’s cashe, I tried it and it didn’t work for me. So have to go back and see what I did wrong LOL .. 90 % of the goof-ups are by me .. LOL .. thanks for commenting, I appreciate it.. much love to you …

  17. Elissa Joy says:

This was a great review Lesly. Thank you for the honesty and the details of the program.
The marketing of it seems like the “One Minute Manager” or what was that recent one.. Tim Ferris’ 4 Hour Week?
The truth is it takes more than that. AND it is misleading, not a good way to start a relationship with a teacher.

It sounds like you got a lot out of it.! Your discovery that you can clear the Cache on FB really had me thinking.. REALLY!?
I want to learn how to do that!

This program seems rich with content too, which is good.

I Agree, people will buy what they want, no matter the price. If they want it bad enough, they will find a way. It’s human nature.

  18. Hey Donna,
You’re absolutely right… people buy from people and because I’m familiar with his work through MLSP (My Lead System Pro) I trust his content. I don’t like the “sing’n dance” routine which he, Ray, is guilty of, and I mention this in my review.. but I see products like these, from people you trust, and know they have value, are worth looking into because I learn from them. I like knowing what something is too because there’s a lot of crap out there. So, like you, I am selective. I wanted to write this so people could get somewhat of a glimpse and make their own decisions … Always appreciate your visits… 🙂

  19. Hey Monna,
There are many people who can’t afford certain things, and yet they invest in other things that may equal the cost of this course, so like everything in life it’s a choice. It matters what someone wants to achieve during their lifetime. If someone wants to go to college that’s a pretty hefty fee… I certainly couldn’t afford it, but I got loans and paid them off through the years and as a result became an RN. Education is an investment in personal development. People just have to decide for themselves what’s important to them.. if they don’t have the money to pay for a course like this, that’s alright! If they do, alright too. Or they’ll save their money for something else or another course.. just depends on their interests, desire and “drive” … As far as the “Easy sounding” of making a fast income .. that certainly isn’t true – but every business, no matter if it’s Network Marketing or AT&T selling cell phones, they use a marketing “hook” to catch people’s attention … great learning experience I think which is why I wrote this review … I appreciate your comment … 🙂

  20. Hi Lesly,

Great review! When I clicked on the link all I could say to myself is “What?” I do like to know what the heck things are actually about BEFORE I give my name and email.

Maybe it is because I straight forward myself. I like to know things up front! Tell me what it is…don’t give me this is going to be great and I don’t know why. That’s my impression.

As I do have the utmost respect for Ray as a marketer and creator, I just somehow cannot “connect” This is why people buy people. Besides making a decision weather or not to purchase, we have that people connection that is so important.

    Just say’n.

  21. Hi Lesly,

I briefly looked over Ray Higdon’s sales page/capture page but decided to pass it by. You’ve given a great review, Lesly but my problem with courses or programs like this, the average person cannot afford the steep price.

I don’t know much about Ray, except that he does live in the same town I do and I have no doubt he knows exactly what he is talking about. But what about the average person who gets pulled in by the “easy sounding” future because they aren’t savvy to the internet ways yet?

So, sorry Lesly to vent a little on your blog and sorry Ray but just can’t dish out that kind of money.
