    Great discussion going here about landing pages, squeeze pages, or optin-pages. I still have to do mine. I’m working on building my foundation first and then this will be part of my list-building strategy of course.

    The video was a big help. All about psychology to get that optin! It won’t be long and I’ll be right back so I can implement this myself. I may go over my strategy with you to see what you think!

  5. Hey Lesy, I loved all your advice. and do know that I need to get my SH__T together one of these days and work on my landing page.

    I have NO hook and a terrible terrible opt in form LOL

    Sarah did make me a PDF with my affirmations I shared a while back on my blog but don’t really know how to pull all of this together..

    You make it all sound so easy, yet I am NOT Techy what so ever……..

    As you know I Love social media and do want to get all of this set up..

    Glad I cleared it up for you 🙂 Vick even goes further with sending several emails, all with a share lock to unlock content on another page. On the page he sends people to there will be training related to the product offer, but gives them a choice “you can pay $97.00 for this training or get it free when you share 5 x” … very interesting tactic and he has used this method and made millions but also his traffic went through the roof … hopefully the guys working on this specific plugin “Viral Sign-ups” will be ready soon to use … then I’ll be able to request more than one share …

    Wonderful to see you visiting, thank you … Glad you’re joining the discussion as you have much more experience than I on this topic. Call it what you may – landing page, squeeze, opt-in – they all have the same purpose to capture emails to build a list. First .. if you watched the video, the share button only appears in the 2nd email.

    Landing Page — Lead Magnet —- Offer. There are no share buttons on these pages. The share comes in the follow-up email #2 where I lock the content, unlock with a share. So the idea here is to have the information spread on social media. I could only go so far with this because I could only find a plugin that would share 1 x.. I’m keeping an eye on a plugin in the works that will allow more shares…

    The important aspect of what I share in this post is 1) promotion and 2) giving free, valuable information to help build a relationship with my list, increase the KLT factor, and to “warm” them up towards the product I’m promoting. Which is why the end up going back, to the initial landing page – the funnel, to lead them to the offer.

    I Love this concept because it’s a subtle promotion,”stealth” as Vick would call it. I’m not screaming “buy this” and it engages and increases traffic and social shares …

  13. Good Day Lesly, This is a great way to get started in using the landing page better. There has sure been a change in how to best get your audience to know like and trust you. In the past it was all car salesman like. Throwing a bunch of people at a sales page and hoping something stuck. Those days are long gone now. People are so busy you need to show them you are worth their time.
    I liked how you explained the purpose of the social share. You never know who will see it on their list once it is shared. This is the great thing about the internet when used well. You can end up helping someone you would never otherwise meet. And all because you asked someone to share your information.

  14. OK, Lesly, I’m getting into the discussion you and Mary are having about social share buttons on the Landing Page (in this case, the landing page is actually a squeeze page or optin page).

    I can see both schools of thought here.

    First, if you’re trying to capture a lead, I’ve always taught students and clients to use ONLY one call to action. By adding social share buttons, you’re introducing a second call to action. It could be confusing, and it could deter someone from opting in because they end up sharing instead.

    However, I can also understand that if someone shares to Facebook for instance, even if you lose the optin, look at all the viral exposure you’re getting from the social shares.

    My inclination is to still avoid the social share on the landing/squeeze page. Keep folks focused on simply joining your list. Later on, in the email sequence follow-up, you can gateway them to share socially. I like that idea a lot, but have never done it.

    HOWEVER, having said all that, you’ve certainly piqued my interest to the point that I think I’ll have to try it to see if I can prove myself wrong… which would be cool!

    So thanks for the tip.

    One other thing BTW, how do you actually create the share buttons. I use Instabuilder, too (somewhat), so I’m assuming there’s an option somewhere (probably a drag and drop) to include them on your template.

    Great to see you visiting… my question to you is this – why do what everyone else is saying what to do? If using Social media is a distraction, how come Vick Strizheus is making millions using this same strategy – although in much more detail than what I discuss. He markets to people not to traffic in his campaigns, which makes sense to me. Even Rob Fore uses social media to promote his business more than SEO. So, I don’t think there’s any exact way to how to promote. What’s important is trying different strategies and using what works. As far as the my video goes .. it’s an “educational” one showing a plan – there is no product focus in it. And Santa is just an attention grabber .. another example of how words or subject matter can attract a viewer …

    Gotta have a landing page. What’s more important though is having a strategy for the landing page. Copy writing skills – absolutely (and that’s another topic) but having a thought out plan and knowing how to execute it with the tools you have will make it more successful.. always great to see you visiting 🙂 and thank you …

    Landing pages are pretty important as you need to be able to build a list. You’ve got to make it sound worth while for your lander to give up their email address.

    So you really need to know who your key audience is and what their pain is. If you look like you offer something that gives them hope so they’ll give you their email.

    Now you hopefully have a product that is going to leave the people happy that they opted in.

    This often seems like it should be easy but it is not easy. If you aren’t congruent then you’ll get no one on your list or people who are only lukewarm about what you offer.

    You really went into a lot of information about the sharing and yet I have had lots of people recommend not to use any social media on your landing page as it can be distracting.

    No question you need to build your traffic and you need to build your relationship with the people on your list. A fine balance!

    By the way I found your headline pretty interesting. Could really create a lot of hate mail as you swapped the info and were really in-congruent Love to hear how it goes
